Mount Juliet is a golfers paradise with the Jack Nicklaus signature 18 hole Golf Course, home to the carrolls Irish Open in 1994 and 1995. Also available is a unique 18-hole, par 53 putting course and extensive practise facilities. To relax between rounds there is the snooker room in the main house or the stylish Leisure Centre and Spa in the nearby Hunters Yard, which features a 15m heated swimming pool, sauna, steamroom, gym and full Beauty Salon.

The course was opened in 1991 with a match featuring golfing legends Christy O'Connor Snr. and Jack Nicklaus. The 1500 acre Mount Juliet estate course, has established itself as a premier golfing venue for top professionals and leisure golfers worldwide. Hosts to the Irish Open 1993-95 and the Shell Wonderful World of Golf match between Fred Couples and Tom Watson in 1998, the par 72, 7200 yard layout boasts beautiful rolling fairways, many feature water hazards and well-contoured greens, all superbly blended into the spectacular setting of this famous old Irish Estate.

Feature holes abound on the course, but the 3rd hole, a stunning par 3 from an elevated tee to a green guarded by a natural stream and lake is one that golfers always remember. The par 5 10th hole with its copse of trees which tests the golfers strategy is also a favourite. The final hole, a long par 4 with water all down the left and a narrow entrance to the green has decided many a tournament result.

The estate offers a variety of exhilarating sporting opportunities. Guests can explore the estate on bicycles or on foot or take a guided pony and trap. A visit to Ballylinch Stud farm, an integral part of estate life, will help to understand and perhaps share the age-old Irish love of horses. The Mount Juliet Equestrian Centre offers basic tuition, trail riding, cross country jumping and show jumping to riders and will tailor instruction programmes to the rider’s specific needs. The Clay Target and Archery Academy provides a challenge to marksmen and would-be Robin Hoods.

Salmon and trout fishing is available on the two fine rivers which run through the estate - The River Nore and the Kings River. Tuition and equipment is provided for all sports.
